Heartburn is going on a permanent hiatus. This may resume in the future, when my heart is healed.
Going to draft all of my comics by hand from now on! Expect this kind of rough style for first drafts. It’s got much more character

Going to draft all of my comics by hand from now on! Expect this kind of rough style for first drafts. It’s got much more character

Heartburn has become incredibly traditional for a while and I’ll be scanning some work in soon, as well as finishing off the last few references. Keep posted!
Victoria: White Serval Victoria is the Queen of the citadel of Aratan, and guided to the element of Light. Victoria is a long line queen, born into her place. She wears her mother’s cape constantly and is adored with the sigil of her house, the Dove. She is adorned additionally with a gold ring on each toe, as well as three gold studs in each ear. Victoria generates good will and is constantly positive and happy. She is easily well liked and holds her graces and honours in high regard. She can most likely be seen lounging atop her Hand, Peugeot. Victoria is seen majoritively with Selena for advise and counselling. Victoria is the youngest Queen the realm has had, coming from the Unit alongside Kathleen, Guin, Leigh and like like. She holds them all in high regard as well as the rest of her people.**I am so happy with this reference style. Simple clean and effective, in my opinion anyway. I am going to produce all of the references before I begin the new comic, as this is going to be the way that I practise the style for it from now on.I want to just mention that Heartburn is an incredibly personal project, based of many a combination of life events, the song 'HeartBurn by the Architects' as well as characters I feel are influential. This is a homage to all of that and more, although I shan't be divulging anymore information than that. I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this, and I can stay faithful to the idea I want to achieve.HEARTBURN + Characters (c) to myself *RaedioCredit goes to ~ducksintophats for the inspiration for Victoria to be a white Serval. Please do not use without expressed permission

Mette: Musk Osk Mette is the commanding officer of Huine’s army. Mette is an harbinger of the element Ice, although he prefers the power of the chill. Mette favours dipping his pelt in the blood of his enemies as well as arming himself with barbed wire, fashion either across his horns or around his legs. He used the long beard to armour with a variety of metallic stud and will swing it at his enemies.Mette is earth elemental, and it shows in his eyes although he has no control over the element within him, although his primary element of cold always shows on the snow and matted iced pelt which will wicker his body.Mette is hostile and unfathomable. Reckless and act generally without thought. Mette is generally described as ‘Huine’s Tank’, and has many a rumour following him regarding his armouring to head Huine’s march on the opposing two citadels.**I am so happy with this reference style. Rome: Grizzly Bear Rome is the main henchman for Huine and rightly so. Rome has full control over the element of Earth and uses it happily. Rome has a tendency to adorn himself in lethal ironwork, additional claws or armour. The ring on Rome’s lip was from confinement - he likes to tell a different story every time someone asks how he did it with ‘grizzly’ detail.Rome’s eyes are covered in lines of scars, Huine instructed Rome to prove his worth by ‘opening his eyes’, Rome never hesitated and tore through his own face. Rome is violent and masochistic. He has a morbid nature and has no apparent register of pain. Rome is little less than a machine, with a mind to match, he more than enjoys games of riddles and debates which can eventually get into a violent ending.**I am so happy with this reference style. Selena: Grey Wolf Selena is the resident prophet and seer of the future. Selena is inhabited by the element of darkness, as opposed to having power over it. Selena wears a velvet red rope around her neck which also falls to her forehead, which wards off spirits, decorated in chimes which foretells her approach to others. She wears gold bangles gifted to her from the Queen on her back feet. Selena has ever changing lavender eyes, which become more intense or lighter throughout the day and along with her moods. Selena's feet seemingly generate mist which can be invisible, white like steam, grey like fog or black like smoke.Selena was born on the night of the full moon, and is akin to the large ethereal ball. She is kind hearted and understanding, courteous and graceful. Selena is reserved about her future judgements and does not reveal, although seems to struggle to hint to Leigh her own demise. **I am so happy with this reference style. Kathleen: King Cheetah Kathleen is the Captain of the Watch and handles powerfully the element of electricity. Kathleen wears a lucky gift from her mother, a small key carved with a three leaved clover in the centre. Both of her ears are pierced with iron, steel and silver - each for her training level. Kathleen is undefeated in her unit.Kathleen has two buck front teeth which gifted her the nickname of ‘The Rat’. She uses it freely as a hidden name to those she does not know. Her eyes are a muddy brown, although seem almost crimson in the light. Her mane unlike King Cheetah’s, curls in the most graceful of ways.Kathleen was originally destined to be the Runner of Aratan, although like Leigh, always dreamt of something else and the pair swapped jobs with permission of the Queen. Kathleen tends to stand on neutral grounds although cannot stand idiocy of any kind and steers clear of a lot of people in her unit.**I am so happy with this reference style. Leigh: Melanistic Leopard Leigh is the runner of Aratan, and is akin with the element of ice although cannot control or tap into it like others in her unit. Leigh wears a gift, dubbed the Runner’s Secret, that Guin crafted for her that conceals messages within the gem in the centre. There used to be three hanging beads although Leigh gave one to Guin, exclaimed she wasn’t complete without him now.Leigh has luminous blue eyes which glow during the night-time. They can fade into white, and loose all sense of her pupil when emotionally charged. Leigh is exceptionally naive and emotional, and is spontaneous to everything she does. Leigh lives for everyday, and finds the war a challenge. **I am so happy with this reference style. Simple clean and effective, in my opinion anyway. Guin: Katanga Lion. Guin is the apprentice Mechanic and has an elemental rapport with the element fire, making him an excellent craftsman. Guin wears a craftsman’s hold on his rump, and anything can be attached to the gold hold around the back. (This can be anything from tools to small wagons). Also attached is a line of gold smithing from Leigh that she gifted to Guin - Guin in fact made the runner’s chain for Leigh, and used the lightest of sapphires to craft it. It is welded onto the gold and cannot fall off. Guin has deep blue eyes, much darker than Leigh’s, as well as fringe which almost constantly covers the right side of his face. There is a scar on his left, where an operation was performed in his teenage years to save his life from an infected organ.Guin is a very reserved individual and doesn’t associate himself with the unit he was brought up in (Alongside the likes of Kaine, Kathleen, Leigh and more). Guin planned a life for himself and Leigh, and resents the war for what it took away from him, so he forever has a constant grudge against it. **I am so happy with this reference style.
